Community-based conservation efforts are those identified, designed, and driven by community members who are affected by the effort. Rooting conservation efforts in community needs ensures success because the effort is serving the community.

Our Commitment

At BCI, we work directly with community representatives to fund conservation work. The projects we support are proposed, designed, and implemented by community representatives. We review proposals for clarity in scope, budget, methods, and long-term sustainability before providing funding directly to partners to carry out the projects. We serve as an accountability partner, remaining in touch with community partners to evaluate and monitor project progress and impact.

Our commitment is to listen, value, and raise up community perspectives as we push to conserve biodiversity among frontline conservation communities.
